Nutritional status, eating and physical activity habits of Medical students
Nutritional status, eating and physical activity habits of Medical students
The aim of this study was to determine the association between nutritional status of students, dietary habits, and behavior and habits in physical activity. The study was conducted as a cross sectional study. Data collection was performed in September and October 2013, and conducted through questionnaires. The survey included 92 students of all majors study the Medical school, University of Novi Sad. Analyzing the nutritional status of all students in this study, 68.48% were normal weight students, underweight 10.87%, and 20.65% overweight and obese. Differences in nutritional status and dietary habits were confirmed, but were not highly statistically significant. Comparing the coefficient of variation it was found that examined students are more homogeneous with respect to the behavior and habits of physical activity (13.83%), less homogeneous in relation to nutritional status (14.61%) and the least homogeneous with respect to eating habits (15.18%). Based on the obtained results it can be concluded that eating habits and habits in physical activity of students of different majors of Medical school in Novi Sad are very similar without any confirmed differences between the analyzed groups of students. For more concrete results study should include students from other faculties.
Oblik krune mandibularnih M1 i M2
Oblik krune mandibularnih M1 i M2
Two criteria are used in the classification of lower molars: the number of cusps and the shape of intercusp patterns, based on the protoconid-entoconid contact. The shape of notches between the present cusps has been of a great interest to anthropologists. There are three types of intercusp contact patterns: 'y' as the basic or proto-form, '+' and 'x' forms. The 'y' form was best developed in the Dryopithecus, so it is named after this fossil ape. The research was conducted in 757 orthodontic patients from Niš, with the aim of determining the frequency of cusp numbers and the types of intercusp patterns in the mandibular M1 and M2 teeth. In M1, 5 cusps are the most frequent (72,52%), 4 cusps appear in 26%, while 6 cusps are sporadic (0,8%). In M2, 96% have 4 cusps and 4% have 5 cusps. The 'y' type is dominant in M1 (66,58%) and the '+' type in M2 (91,37%). For M1, the 'y5' type is characteristic in 65% and the '+4' type in 22%. In a dominant number of patients (90%), M2 is characterized by the combination '+4', while the 'y5' form is found only in 3%. .

Oral health related quality of life of the frail and dependent elderly
Oral health related quality of life of the frail and dependent elderly
Necessary approach to a patient in the 21st century understands not only analyzing physical condition, but also social and psychological aspect of an individual. In frail and dependent elderly who are residents of the long term institutions and hospitals, every aspect of health is jeopardized. Missing natural teeth and functional prosthetic constructions makes their medical condition worse, because of impossibility of adequate nutrition intake and communication. Aim of this work is to determine in what degree oral condition influence quality of life of frail and dependent elderly. Fifty patients (32 women and 18 men) were questioned in Institute for Geriatric Medicine, Hospital center 'Zvezdara'. Oral examination was done, including dental status, condition of the mucosa and periodontal tissues, and the presence of prosthetic constructions and their functionality. Quality of life was examined with questionnary OHIP (Oral Health Impact Profile) which gives information about possibility of oral functioning (speech, mastication, swallowing, presence of pain etc.) in the present condition (with or without natural teeth or prosthetic constructions). It was determined that 36 patients had score which shows high negative influence of oral condition on the quality of life. In that group of patients, dominant were women. Prosthetic care and rehabilitation is necessary in population of the frail and dependent elderly, in order to, at least maintain quality of life as it is, and to avoid more complication of the general health condition.
Os zygomaticum bipartitum na lobanjama sa srednjovekovnog nalazišta manastirište u Majdanu
Os zygomaticum bipartitum na lobanjama sa srednjovekovnog nalazišta manastirište u Majdanu
Os zygomaticum bipartium presents zygomatic bone divided by a horizontal suture into two parts. This rare non metric-trait, with genetic background, is most frequent in East Asians. This paper presents zygomatic division frequency in middle aged sample from archaeological site Manastirište in Majdan (North Banat). Since there was a lack of sexual dimorphism and there were no significant differences between males and females, the observed sample was divided into three groups according to archaeological context of findings: skulls from graves, skulls from pits or commingled human remains which present earlier, disturbed burial units, and sporadic zygomatic bone findings. The presence of divided zygomatic bones was detected in two adult male individuals - complete and partial division. Overall sample frequency (0,48 %, 3/616) is similar to European sample (Hanihara et al., 1998), but there is a great difference in comparison with east parts of the Old World. Until present os zygomaticum partitum was not documented in Serbia, and regional significance is reflected in the presence of the people of East Asian origin, Mongols and Cumans, who invaded Banat in the Middle Ages.
Oscillations of the spinal deviations of the school children depending on the ages
Oscillations of the spinal deviations of the school children depending on the ages
The paper deals with the frequency, lagreness and the structure of the spinal disorders of the schoolchildren. The research has been done on the sample of 251 children, 116 boys and 135 girls of the three schools in Nikšić: 'R. Čizmović', ' B. Labudović' and ' M. Lajović-Lalatović'. The sample included the children of three growing periods pre-puberty and puberty and included the students of the fourth, sixth and eighth grade, ten, twelve and fourteen years old. Since this period of growth is one of the most important ones including sudden changing of the way and dynamic of living (Radisavljević, 1995; Ulic, 1995) the author points out the importance of preventing the prospective progression of the deviations in order to stop futher consequences (Pecina and Kristofić, 1983). The author has completed the evaluation of the spinal status by means of combined methods: method somathoscopy, Adams' testing, testing of the 'voluntary' muscular contractions and the testing of the posit ion in height. It is concluded that the major spinal disorders are those in the frontal straight-backed surface within the girls of twelve and boys of fourteen. The author claims that the major percentage of the disorders are functional ones that can be coorected by an approproate physical treatment. .
Participant observation as a research method in anthropology
Participant observation as a research method in anthropology
Intrested in various aspects of man and his existence, antropologists have developed a large number of qualitative and quantitative research approaches, strategies, methods and techniques for empirical studies both past and present physical and sociocultural features of humans - their differences and similarities, particularities and universals - many of which take place in natural settings. Emphasizing the importance of research question as a starting point in the choice of proper method of research in anthropology, the paper is focused on consideration of the participant observation as the particular type of observational method of data cellection in anthropology - particulary, in cultural (social) anthropology and ethnology. The main purpose of the paper is (1) to point out the advantages and constraints of this method and (2) to suggest the ways in which these methodological constrains could be minimize. In conclusion, it is stressed that the central methodological problem with this kind of research is balancing adequate subjectivity with adequate objectivity of observer-as-participant.
Penal anthropology
Penal anthropology
In the article the author deals with the basic theoretical statements and discussions about the practical use of restorative justice. She discusses the questions of introducing and application of restorative justice in order to reach the balance of interests between a victim, society and a delinquent. There is no unique statement about the restorative justice concept, so the authors make this concept by listing certain activities with rispect of standards and principles. Also she emphasizes the values of restorative justice process. A part of the article is dedicated to the standards for restorative justice which are harmonized with the international documents of human rights.

Phenotype of pedes plani at candidates for pilot-students and other students of Military Academy
Pedes plani concludes longitudinal or transversal lowered feet-bow (Pes plana longitudinale et Pes transversoplanus). The Research goal was to note Pedes Plani expression at cadets, and gymnasialist in year 2006.Research sample concluded 80 subjects, 40 cadets of Air forces, male gender, 16-18 years, and 40 Army gymnasialist. Feet deformation was metodologichy expected by, 'Chizin' in mm. Researchers results were: at Air force cadets was 14,52 % of Pedes plani present, and at Army gymnasialist 18,54 %, with more significant presence of this deformitete at army gymnasialist and p<0,005, what is concerned, camting on lower selection cryteryums of this sub-population, but paradoxally, concluding that pilot's feed isn't of big importance, as to their colleges troopers.
Physical activity and examination of middle school students
Physical activity and examination of middle school students
The aim of the research was to examine the relationship between physical activity and the diet of secondary school students. Data on physical activity and diet were collected with the help of two questionnaires: the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the KIDMED questionnaire on healthy nutrition. The survey included 219 respondents from three secondary schools in Vrbas. The results of the research show that there are no differences when it comes to the diet of students and pupils. A very small percentage of students have optimal nutrition (11.4%), and a large percentage of those who need correction in nutrition (53.4%). More than half of the respondents are in the category of those who are intensively engaged in physical activity (53.4%), the percentage of respondents who are moderately engaged in physical activity is 39.3%, and only 6.4% of the percentage of respondents are insufficiently engaged in physical activity. When it comes to physical activity, gender differences exist. In percentage, there are more students who are intensively engaged in physical activity than pupils. There is no significant correlation between diet and total physical activity.
Physical activity in the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular risk
Physical activity in the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular risk
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are more widespread today, whereby they take dimensions of global epidemic. They are the leading cause of diseases in the world, of inability to work, of absenteeism and premature mortality up to 65 years of age. Modern lifestyle in which there is not enough physical activity is recognized as one of the major risk factors for health and emergence of CVD. Physical inactivity is responsible for poor health quality, unnecessary illnesses and premature death. The aim of this work is to point out the basic risk factors and importance and the role of physical exercise in the prevention and rehabilitation of CVD. In the analysis of the data, the methods of speculation and introspection are used. Numerous studies have shown that properly practiced physical activity is a powerful and beneficial effect in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases (Scrutino et al. 2005; Secco et al. 2000; Jovović, 2008; Šuščević et al. 2011). Physical activity belongs to the concept of numerous factors, which along with the reduction of risk factors, lifestyle changes and medical therapy leads to the reduction of risk for cardiovascular diseases. To achieve the desired effect, a combination of aerobic, interval and isotonic muscle activity of moderate intensity at least four times a week for 45 minutes is recommended. During the secondary prevention and rehabilitation, physical activity adapts to health status, level of individual risk and the estimated functional abilities of patients. Transformational processes can only be achieved through regular exercise. The risk of emergence of complications during physical exercise is negligible, especially if the walking is practiced as a form of physical exercise.
Physical fitness differences of students with different cardiorespiratory endurance levels
Physical fitness differences of students with different cardiorespiratory endurance levels
In order to determine physical fitness differences in students with different cardiorespiratory endurance levels, a study was conducted on a sample of students of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education at the University of Nis. The sample was divided into two subsamples, where the first subsample comprised 27 female students and the other 35 male students. Physical fitness was assessed using eight tests from the Eurofit battery of tests: the single-leg balance test - for the assessment of general balance, plate tapping - for the assessment of speed of movement, sit-and-reach - for the assessment of flexibility, the standing broad jump - for the assessment of explosive strength, the handgrip test - for the assessment of static strength, sit-ups - for the assessment of repetitive trunk strength, the bent arm hang - for the assessment of muscular endurance and the 10x5 meter shuttle run - for the assessment of the speed/agility. Cardiorespiratory endurance was estimated with the aid of 20 m endurance shuttle-run test. Based on the level of cardiorespiratory endurance, the participants in each subsample, were divided into three groups using a cluster analysis: high (VKRI), average (PKRI) and low level (NKRI). The physical fitness differences of students with different cardiorespiratory endurance levels were calculated using the one-way analysis of variance. The results showed that there were no differences in physical fitness of students with different cardiorespiratory endurance levels. Based on the results it can be concluded that the level of cardiorespiratory endurance does not affect the components of physical fitness among students of both sexes.
