Lucida intervalla was founded by a group of members of the Department of Classical Studies in Belgrade in 1998, at the time when they perceived their reading and interpreting of ancient texts as sobering acts and breakouts from confusing reality. Hence the name of the journal. The initial idea was to provide students of Classics and general audience with reliable and up to date editions (introductions, original texts, translations, and commentaries) of important and not yet translated works of Greek and Latin literature. In the next 15 years more than 40 volumes were published. The focus of the journal gradually shifted from translations to scholarly contributions, while the proportion of contributions in languages other than Serbian increased slowly but steadily. Today Lucida intervalla is an international peer-reviewed journal devoted to publishing original scholarly research in all areas of Classical Studies.

O antroponimiji Azala
U radu se govori o ličnim imenima plemena Azala, koje je živelo na severu Panonije i u rimsko doba činilo veću peregrinu zajednicu u toj rimskoj provinciji. Obično se smatra da je u pitanju panonsko (»ilirsko«) pleme, koje je pod Tiberijem preseljeno u severnu Panoniju iz doline Drave i da ono predstavlja svojevrsno »lingvističko ostrvo« u severnoj Panoniji, budući okruženo keltskim plemenima Boja, Eraviska, Herkunijata. Analizirajući antroponimiju Azala zabeleženu u epigrafskim spomenicima, dolazi se do zaključka da bi taj stav trebalo revidirati, o čemu govori činjenica da se značajan broj nelatinskih ličnih imena kod Azala može smatrati keltskim.

U radu je popravljeno čitanje i tumačenje jednog nedavno objavljenog latinskog nadgrobnog natpisa iz Crne Gore, čija je teritorija u rimsko doba pripadala provinciji Dalmaciji. Povodom ličnosti navedenih u natpisu ukazuje se na put naseljavanja italskih porodica Pletorija i Stacija u priobalne dalmatinske gradove, a zatim i u unutrašnjost provincije.

U članku se u svjetlu akcentuacije razmatra pitanje srpsko-hrvatskih grecizama na Jadranu, i to da li su ti grecizmi pozajmljeni neposredno od Grka ili posredstvom ondašnjih Latina, tj. Romana.

Klasične partikule su tokom kasnije istorije grčkog jezika postepeno nestајаle, ali su neke od njihovih funkcija preuzimale druge reči. Prilog ὄντως u Lugu duhovnom Jovana Mosha počinje da se koristi kao partikula kojom se sagovorniku privlači pažnja. Ova nova upotreba je po svoj prilici karakteristika govornog jezika ranog sedmog veka.

Being the preface to a Serbian translation of Virgil’s Georgics, Book One, this essay acts as an introduction to ancient didactic poetry in general. It presents the main characteristics of the genre and provides the reader with a short overview of didactic epic throughout Greek, Hellenistic and Roman periods. Another part deals with different readings of Virgil’s Georgics which for many years have been a source of fierce controversy. The ambiguity of the poem should be understood as a product of poet’s personal attitude as well as the result of a complex engagement with earlier writers in the didactic tradition: Hesiod, Aratus and above all Lucretius. The work admits both optimistic and pessimistic reading without enforcing either of them. The ancient interpretations of Palamedes’ life and death convey an old intuition that letters may be a dangerous gift, a destructive power which may cause damage or death to the inventor, or even create confrontation with the community. The mythical figure of Palamedes, a hero absent in the Iliad, attracted the attention of several genres and époques because of his important inventions and his tragic death. This paper is a kind of diachronic portrait of the πρῶτος εὑρετής, recognized subsequently as a victim or a hero of the letters.

Pannonia in the Writings of 15th/16th-Century Humanists
The aim of this paper is to investigate the transfer of the name of ancient Pannonia from ancient sources, via the humanists’ writings, to the modern times. The research is based on the writings of four distinguished humanists whose work covered the region: Ransanus, Bonfini, Olahus and Gregoriancz. Taking into account preceding findings of the most distinguished expert on renaissance geography of Pannonia, Peter Kulcsár, the paper attempts to offer a possibility for identification of an author, whom Ransanus had employed in his work on Pannonia. The paper shows how these humanist writers copied from a variety of ancient sources, as well as from their immediate predecessors. It also points out how this reconstructed image of Pannonia from ancient sources and near contemporaries was sometimes used in a political context, reminiscent of discourses on the imagological ‘other’, common in the understanding the image of a region in the modern period., Bibliografija: str. 157-159, Napomene i bibliografske reference uz tekst, Summary ; Apstrakt

Particularisation and Priamel in Horace's Odes
This paper explores particularisation and its relation to the priamel in Horace’s Odes. I argue that Horace used particularisation more extensively than his predecessors and that it played an important role in his stylistic arsenal. I trace the occupational priamel through history to show the peculiarity of its treatment in Horace. Further, I establish that Horace skillfully manipulated the established patterns of particularisation (for instance in the sequences of four examples) in his priamels to promote his literary purposes and to confound the reader’s expectations. Il Metodo Polis è un «nuovo» modo di insegnare il greco antico come L2 e impiega prassi e strategie adottate dalla glottodidattica delle lingue moderne in maniera ecclettica, in particolare dal Metodo Diretto, dall’Approccio Naturale e dal Total Physical Response. Pesma o štitu - prilog komparativnom izučavanju pseudo-Hesiodovog Heraklitovog štita
Štit se kao predmet pesme i priče, ali i kao povod za njihovo nastajanje, u klasičnoj književnosti pojavljivao u različitim oblicima i funkcijama. Razumevanju njegove geneze kao pesničkog predmeta, koji je svoj potencijal na najvišem stupnju ostvario u čuvenim opisima Ahilejevog i Enejinog štita, značajno bi moglo doprineti i komparativno čitanje bezmalo zaboravljene pesme o Heraklovom štitu, čiji je književni značaj u odnosu na velike epove antike često osporavan na osnovu neargumentovanih sudova autoriteta. Cilj ovoga rada je da ukaže na mogućnost interpretacije izvesnih delova pesme o Heraklovom štitu sa tačke gledišta koja bi podrazumevala postojanje jednog zajedničkog epskog inventara iz koga su epski pevači Ahilejevog i Heraklovog štita mogli da crpe svoju građu stvarajući dve analogne ekfraze istog imaginarnog predmeta.
